Good agronomy and farming is all about communication.  Liaising with other industry people is imperative to gaining a well balanced view of agriculture, agronomy and life in general.

Bernie Quade - agronomist based in Geraldton. Bernie is from a farming family in New South Wales. After studying Agriculture at WAGGA WAGGA, he was working as an Agronomist for IAMA and Landmark in Ardlethan, New South Wales. After severeal years and some extended travel, Bernie moved westward and has been an Agronomist in the Mid West Region of Western Australia. Bernie is experienced in aspects of low rainfall agronomy and takes a keen interest in crop nutrition, farm management, AFL football and the coastal lifestyle.                                   

 


 

P1010134.JPG Julianne Dixon - an agronomist and farmer group co-ordinator in her spare time, Jules also is busy raising two children and supporting Dan , her husband, who is a researcher and area manager for Dow Agrosciences in Bendigo, Victoria.  Jules has extensive experience as an agronomist for Elders Ltd in the Central wheatbelt of W.A., as well as growing up farming summer and winter crops with her family in Gunnedah, New South Wales. Jules co-ordinated the AgVance Farming Group for several years, and specialises in Agricultural Extension and communication.

Phil Smyth -  Agronomist based in Esperance, Western Australia. After completing a Bachelor of Agribusiness (mkt) at Curtin University Muresk Institute of Agriculture, Phil began his agronomy career in Geraldton and has since moved to the South East Coastal district. Phil has formed his own company - Advance Agronomics- where he now contracts to Landmark, providing agronomic support to clients in the south coastal region. Phil has also recently started working with Farmanco Management Consultants.  Apart from general crop and pasture agronomy,Phil has a keen interest in creating efficiencies in agriculture through adoption of new opportunities such as Variable Rate Technology (VRT) and liquid fertiliser injection.

James Yewers - Grains Industry consultant and grains grower from Mingenew. James partially completed a Bachelor of Business in Agriculture at Curtin University's Muresk Institute before returning home to manage the family farm. He is currently consulting to biofuels companies on grains for ethanol production, as well as researching fossil fuel production from algae. James is chairman of the Irwin Valley group, which is leading the development of lupin products and ingredients for human foods.

Tony Vyn - Tony is a professor in the Department of Agronomy at Purdue University in Indiana USA. Tony spent some time in Australia studying previous work on RTK guidance in cropping systems and furrow placement to intercept residual fertilisers. He also conducted new research whilst visiting the dryland farming region of Western Australia.
